NaNoWriMo Week #2

I haven't written in three days.

I'm starting to look at my story, and my characters, and think to myself "What's the point?" I without fail, always get like this about 20,000 words into a novel. And you know what? I never finish. I stop writing. Push it to the backburner, and forget the thoughts, images, and dialog, I had been flooded with inspiration for only days before.

It ends tonight.

As soon as the clock strikes 9:45, I am opening my google doc and forcing myself to write at least 500 words. No. I'm doing it as soon as I finish this blog post. I am sick and tired of writers block getting the best of me.

If you're reading this, and feeling the same way about your story, let's try to kick writers block to the curb this week. As it says on the NaNoWriMo website, "The world needs your story"

READY SET GO!

Edit: Hah, just kidding.  I almost gave up, I forgot to post this, opened up my story, and just wanted to quit. After talking it through, I decided to go back to the beginning, and re-read it from the top as an attempt to get re-inspired. And you know what? It worked! I ended up adding so much about the characters, and it's the small scenes and interactions that make me get hooked on writing a story again.

Last night was a prime example of the rollercoaster ride that NaNoWriMo is.
But i have a strong feeling, it's all going to be worth it. :)

It's still a rough draft, but here's a little bit of the first chapter (It's written in diary format)

"   How do these things normally start off anyways? I guess i’ll introduce myself to you faceless booklet of paper.  I’m Barbara Jenkins. My mom named me after the first batgirl, Barbara Gordon. How cool is that right?! But I don’t  fight crime or drive a sweet motorcycle. I’m just a 10th grader. I do kind of have one superpower though, I’m invisible. Well, not really. . But it would be really awesome if i was right? I’d sneak into the comic shop, and read all the new releases in the back, before they hit the shelves. I’d have all the knowledge and the power. I would be so invincible! But instead of using my powers for evil, and starting a blog filled with spoilers, I’d use my powers for good, starting with winning the heart of that the dreamboat who works behind the counter. He’d practically throw himself at me and my superior comic book knowledge. "

Track my progress, and add me as a writing buddy here.

I'm about to brew some tea and get writing again!

Take that writers block!
